News:
I am currently residing in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic as
a Fulbright Fellow where I am compiling and editing an anthology
of writings by Dominican women and women of Dominican descent living
in the United States. For more information on the submission
process please hit the “PROJECTS” tab of this website.

Writing has been a way for me to break the silence in my life. As
a child, my motivation to write was purely instinctual and internal—a
reaction to my upbringing as the daughter of Dominican immigrants.
Raised in Northeastern New Jersey and Long Island, my walk to
school felt like a journey between two lands: school where we
spoke English, and home where we spoke Spanish. Books comforted
me in that quiet in-between. I also found solace by writing and
playing with the new words I learned in English. Now as an adult
I write to give voices to underrepresented individuals.
